9 Amazing Liverpool Businesses Helping Us Get Through the Coronavirus Pandemic

liverpool businesses

Liverpool is known for the unique independent businesses that shape the city. However, the coronavirus pandemic has hit the hospitality industry hard, and left many of our favourite local businesses in a difficult position.

That being said, in Liverpool we’re famous for our resilience, so it should come as no surprise that Liverpool businesses are helping the city to get through an uncertain time, while they also fight to stay afloat.

We’ve put together a list of some of the businesses you can continue to support while they do their bit for the community.

9 Amazing Liverpool Businesses

1) The Tavern

The Tavern is best-loved for serving the city’s award-winning favourite breakfast, but it’s not just their infamous pancakes that are helping us get through this unsteady time.

The team at the Tavern have stepped up their game and are helping the community by offering an online delivery service of groceries, ranging from fruit and veg boxes, to bread, juice, meat and even gloves and toilet roll.

You can order here and please don’t forget to spread the word to those who might find it difficult getting to the supermarket.

2) Freida Mo’s

One of our favourite independents along Lark Lane, Freida Mo’s will soon be offering a delivery service for their fresh, homemade bakes and vegan-friendly treats.

If you’re not in complete self isolation but are sticking to social distancing, you can also pop in to see some friendly faces behind the till and choose to take away.

Follow the team at Freida Mo’s here on Facebook or here on Instagram to keep up with the latest plans surrounding deliveries and take away options.

3) Fika

Sitting in Liverpool’s leafy Woolton Village, Fika coffee shop has been setting an example by creating amazing care packages for the elderly and vulnerable members of society.

You can help support them by dropping off donations or alternatively, a safer option is to donate online here to ensure the team can reach everyone in need.

If you do decide to stop off with a donation, make sure you take away one of their famous coffees or cakes to help support this independent business.

4) Neighbourhood Cafe

Based in the heart of Childwall, Neighbourhood Cafe is without a doubt one of the city’s best-loved family independents.

The team are making sure they can help local people with groceries and keep going themselves, by offering fantastic fruit and veg boxes for £15 to be picked up or delivered for a small fee.

If you live close to Neighbourhood Cafe, please pass the information on to elderly neighbours or relatives.

5) Maray

Maray is one of our favourite independent restaurants in Liverpool, based on Allerton Road, Bold Street and the Albert Dock.

The team have made the responsible yet difficult decision to close their doors to the public, to encourage social distancing and keep our city safe. So please make sure you show support by using their delivery service via Deliveroo.

If you’re celebrating a special occasion while staying at home, this is the place to order from, thanks to its delicious and perfectly presented culinary creations.

6) Lunya

Sadly, Liverpool’s go-to restaurant for authentic tapas – Lunya – has closed its doors for the near future, to put staff and customer safety before profit.

In the meantime, you can show support for this wonderful independent business by purchasing a voucher online here or visiting the award-winning Lunya deli to take away comforting fresh bakes, useful groceries and hot drinks.

The restaurant’s owners Peter and Elaine Kinsella are so grateful for the support that has already been shown since announcing the closure, and encourage customers to also use their online shop – selling Spanish and Catalan produce alongside essentials such as vegetables, instant meals and pasta.

7) The Nakery

The Nakery is one of the city’s very best spots for vegan food, specialising in raw vegan cakes and treats that taste just as good (if not better) than desserts containing dairy.

You can support this local independent by using their new delivery service via Instagram here. The delivery menu also features immune-boosting supercharged smoothies to encourage customers to get the nutrition they need while at home.

Deliveries are left outside and customers are notified when they have arrived.

8) Il Capitano’s

Renowned for its traditional Neapolitan wood fired pizzas, Il Capitano’s in Waterloo is another local favourite that has made the difficult decision to close to diners in response to social distancing recommendations.

However, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on such tasty pizza! Il Capitano’s is now offering an extensive delivery and collection menu which you can view here, so you can indulge in authentic Italian pizza from the comfort and safety of your home.

9) Adore Group

Part of the Adore Group, founded by Sean O’Neill, Sexi Property Group is now offering NHS staff free accommodation in its luxury properties, which may help staff who are trying to social distance from vulnerable family members, or staff who are having to commute back and forth.

Follow here on Instagram to keep up to date with the rooms and apartments available. The properties are available free for 14 days with considerably reduced rates afterwards.

Please spread the word to friends and family who work for the NHS!
